Service Information

This is your Pre & Post care information for all services, as well as a list of contraindications - Should you have this service? How should you prepare for it? What do you need to do to care for your skin afterwards?  All of that is right here!

What is a contraindication?  It is a precaution - it may not be best for you to receive certain services if you have certain medical conditions, are on specific medications or have certain symptoms - these are contraindications that your esthetician will take into consideration for your health and well being before providing your service.

Facials

Contraindications -

The following conditions are contraindications that will not necessarily stop the treatment from taking place but they may mean that the treatment is restricted or may have to be adapted:

If you have been on Accutane at any time in the past 12 months, cuts/abrasions & broken skin, bruises or swelling, recent sunburn, and cold sores.

PreCare - There is no pre-care necessary for a facial, come in as you are.

Post Care - Even during a regular facial, you are most likely getting more exfoliation than you normally would at home.  For the next few days you should remember to wear SPF any time you are in the sun.  For best results, continue with an at home skin care routine recommended by your esthetician.  If you are looking for real results, 80% will come from your at home care, 20% will be from visiting your esthetician every 4 weeks.

Advanced Exfoliations

Contraindications -

Although it is impossible to list every potential risk and complication, the following conditions are recognized as contraindications for advanced exfoliation treatments.

Active infection of any type, such as Herpes simplex virus or flat warts, active acne, sunburn, recent use of topical agents such as glycolic acids, alphahydroxy acids and Retin-A, any recent chemical peel procedure, diabetes, eczema, dermatitis, skin cancer, vascular lesions, oral blood thinner medications, rosacea, pregnancy, use of Acutane within the last year, family history of hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation.

PreCare - It is preferred (but not required) to come to your Advanced Exfoliation appointment with no make up.

Post Care - After receiving an advanced exfoliation, you'll need to keep SPF on your face for 10-14 days any time you step outside - failure to do so can cause hyper or hypopigmentation. Do not exfoliate or use retinols, AHA's or glycolic acids for 10-14 days after treatment - this can cause serious irritation and damage your skin barrier.  If you have any specific questions, ask your esthetician immediately!

ALSO - After a chemical peel - protect your face from bacteria - Wear a clean mask, use a clean pillow case, do not enter any hot tubs, swimming pools, lakes, etc.  If you are planning a vacation where you will be outside much - wait until you get back to get your chemical peel!  You don't want to risk causing permanent damage to your skin by getting it before (besides, if you don't want to go on vacation all flakey!)  You may or may not peel with your chemical peel, if you do NOT peel, that does not mean your peel was not effective - this is common!  It really depends on the peel you received (work your way up, don't start at the top - work with your esthetician on this) and if you skin has been "conditioned" for what it receives - this means your home care, as well as what types of procedures your skin is use to.

Lash Services

Contraindications -

Contraindications are conditions or symptoms that restrict the treatment to go ahead. So if you have one or more of the below conditions, we will need to re-assess whether we are able to do the eyelash extensions treatment:

Contagious or infection of the eye, hypersensitive skin, stye, swelling of the eyes, cancer, herpes, cuts or open wounds in the area, epilepsy, claustrophobia, semi-permanent make up near the eyes within the past 4 weeks.

PreCare - Don't wear false strip lashes for 3-4 days before your lash appointment.  Don't wear mascara for at least 24 hours before your appointment.  Come in with clean lashes, and if possible a clean face!

Post Care - Don't get your lashes wet for 24 hours after your appointment - avoid steam and high humidity.  Use an oil free eye make up remover and avoid products containing oil near the lashes.  Make sure if you wear mascara, it is a lash extension safe mascara like Grande Lashes etc.

Make Up Services

Contraindications - Things that may prevent us from your make up application are Accutane use within the past 12 months, advanced stages of active acne (I can evaluate your skin and we can discuss!), psoriasis, cold sores or contagious skin disease.

PreCare - Make up applies best to hydrated skin - a few days before your appointment, do a gentle exfoliation (depending on your skin type) and hydrate well. If you have texture obstacles like eczema, psoriasis, dry rough patches - please let me know a couple days before your appointment so we can try to solve that before your make up appointment.

Post Care - This is your call!  As always, I recommend removing your make up and cleansing your face well before you go to bed!

Waxing Services

Contraindications - We may not be able to proceed with the waxing treatment if you are taking antibiotics, if you are taking Accutane (must be off accutane for 1 year for any esthetics services), if you are diabetic, have a sunburn or have been waxed or had an advanced exfoliation service in the past 48 hours.

If you are pregnant, using oral contraceptives or hormone replacement medication your skin may be more sensitive to waxing. We recommend to have a Patch Test (on a small area of your arm) and see how your skin reacts for 24 hours before getting an entire eyebrow, face or chin wax.

PreCare - Please come to your waxing appointment so fresh and so clean clean!

Post Care - You might be affected if you are using strong exfoliators on your skin. Salicylic acid (found in some toners), alpha-hydroxy acid, enzymes and retinols all strip cells from the skin.  When getting waxing after using these products,  it could make your skin red or bleed. We recommend to stop using any strong exfoliators in the area getting waxed for at least three days before, and three to four days after waxing.
